The idea for the Redemptorist Centre of Music came from a group of like-minded people, involved and experienced in music, who have experienced for themselves the ability and power of music to be a transforming influence in their own lives. These are skilled people who love music, in all its forms, and see it as a powerful tool for self-expression, confidence building, skill resourcing, and for learning to interact with others in a way that is creative, fulfilling and life enhancing. They also recognise that there can be a certain 'elitism' associated with music learning, and that the costs involved can act as a deterrent in encouraging many young people, or their families, from pursuing the development of their musical skills and ability.
We wish to provide resources needed to make music accessible to all, especially to those who may not have the resources to otherwise engage in it and who might occupy space on the margins of society.
